SULLIVAN COUNTY, N.Y. — The Sullivan Fresh Farmers’ Markets are returning for the summer and fall seasons.
The annual markets aim to improve access to healthy food while supporting local farmers. Sullivan Fresh works to make fresh produce affordable and accessible through nutrition education, outreach programs, cooking demonstrations, multilingual materials and a variety of incentive programs for low-income residents.
The Sullivan Fresh Monticello Farmers’ Market is operating Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September at 10 Jefferson St. in Monticello.
The Sullivan Fresh Market-on-the-Move begins in July and will run through October, making weekly stops on Wednesdays in Woodridge, South Fallsburg and Loch Sheldrake.
The mobile market schedule includes:
- Woodridge Municipal Lot, 10 to 11 a.m., Green Avenue and Dairyland Road, Woodridge.
- Fallsburg Town Hall, noon to 1:30 p.m., 19 Railroad Plaza, South Fallsburg.
- Loch Sheldrake Public Lot, 3 to 4:30 p.m., corner of Hasbrouck Road and Route 52, Loch Sheldrake.
Shoppers can use several payment and incentive programs at participating markets, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/EBT) benefits, Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks, Senior FMNP checks, Fresh Rx coupons, Double Up Food Bucks and Sullivan Fresh Bucks.
Market organizers said SNAP users can increase their purchasing power through programs such as Fresh Connect and New York State Double Up Food Bucks, which provide matching funds that can be used to buy eligible foods and fresh produce.
Under the Double Up Food Bucks program, shoppers receive an additional $2 in market tokens for every $2 spent through SNAP/EBT, up to $50 per visit. Fresh Connect offers a similar match, providing up to $50 per visit in additional spending power for SNAP participants.
Children can earn Sullivan Fresh Bucks, ranging from $2 to $10, by attending special market events. The coupons may be used to purchase produce, herbs, meat, eggs and dairy products.
The Fresh Rx Produce Prescription Program provides eligible SNAP or Medicaid recipients with $40 in coupons for each wellness class attended through the program. Coupons can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables.
Seasonal FMNP and Senior FMNP coupon books, valued at $25, are also available for eligible participants. Seniors can obtain coupons through the Sullivan County Office for the Aging, while Women, Infants and Children (WIC) participants can contact Sun River Health in Monticello. The coupons expire in November 2026.
