The Ulster County Department of Public Works will temporarily close the Boodle Hole Bridge in the Town of Rochester beginning Tuesday, September 15.

County Bridge #7, located on Boodle Hole Road where it crosses Rochester Creek, will be closed to all vehicle traffic while crews replace the bridge’s existing superstructure.

County officials estimate the project will take approximately eight to 10 weeks, depending on weather and site conditions.

During the closure, drivers can use a designated detour along Mettacahonts Road, Route 209 and Queens Highway before reconnecting with Boodle Hole Road.

The detour directs traffic south on Mettacahonts Road for approximately 2.95 miles, west on Route 209 for about 0.8 miles, and north on Queens Highway for approximately 2.2 miles to Boodle Hole Road.

The Ulster County Department of Public Works is asking motorists for patience and cooperation while the infrastructure improvement project is underway.
