Delaware County artists, arts organizations and educators can apply for grants of up to $7,500 through a new round of state-funded arts grants administered locally by the Roxbury Arts Group.

The 2027 Delaware County Arts Grant program expects to distribute at least $175,000, according to Ursula Hudak of the Roxbury Arts Group. The program is a regrant of the New York State Council on the Arts.

Funding is available in three categories: Community Arts, Creative Learning and Individual Artist.

Community Arts grants support projects that bring arts and cultural activities to Delaware County communities. Hudak pointed to funding for the Catskills Jazz Quartet to present free concerts at the Andes Rail Trail and last year’s support for the Walton Porch Fest as examples of the program’s reach.

Individual Artist grants provide commissions for artists to create new collections of work. Hudak says the funding can give artists resources and time to invest in their work.

The Creative Learning category supports arts education in public schools, after-school programs and community centers. One recent example is funding for artist Ethan Fox to teach African drumming at Roxbury Central School.

Hudak says those programs can help students develop creative skills while learning to collaborate and work as a team.

Nonprofits and individuals based in Delaware County may be eligible. Applicants who don’t have nonprofit status can apply with a fiscal sponsor or community partner.

The application period opens October 17 and closes January 23 at 4 p.m. Applicants must attend an information session, with sessions offered both online and at locations around the county.
