Summer tradition returns to Delaware County as volunteer fire departments host their annual Fireman’s Field Days, offering carnival rides, fireworks, food, live entertainment and family activities while raising money to support local emergency services.

The events, held throughout the summer, are a longstanding fundraiser for volunteer fire departments and help support equipment, training and community programs.

The season begins with the Margaretville Fire Department Annual Field Days, running Tuesday, June 30, through Saturday, July 4, at Village Park in Margaretville. The event features carnival rides, nightly entertainment, a car show, chicken barbecue, local brewery and cider tastings, and fireworks. Admission to the grounds is free, with donations accepted to help offset the cost of the fireworks.Margaretville Fire Department website.

The East Branch Volunteer Fire Department Fireman’s Field Days follow Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, featuring fireworks, J&M Amusements carnival rides, live music, a raffle, a fireman’s parade, softball tournament, vendors and food.

The Downsville Fire Department Field Days are scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11. Activities include fireworks, the Midsummer Mayhem demolition derby, food, beer, vendors, bounce houses and games.

The summer concludes with the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department Annual Family Field Day & Fireworks on Saturday, July 25, featuring fireworks, food, live music and local vendors.

Organizers say each department puts its own spin on the traditional field day, giving visitors a unique experience at every stop while supporting the volunteer firefighters who serve their communities.
