Delaware County is reminding residents that financial assistance may be available to help with home heating costs through the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, as the weather turns colder.
Eligibility is based on household income, household size, the type of primary heating source and whether someone in the household is younger than 6, age 60 or older, or permanently disabled.
HEAP assistance is available for households using electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, propane, wood or wood pellets, kerosene or corn as their primary heating source.
Residents who want to learn more about HEAP or believe they may qualify can contact the Delaware County Office for the Aging. Staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer questions and assist with the program.
The Office for the Aging is located at 97 Main Street in Delhi. Residents can also call 607-832-5750.
