HONESDALE, PA. — Residents looking to clear out accumulated cardboard will have an opportunity to recycle it for free during an event hosted by the Greater Honesdale Partnership later this month.
The Cardboard Recycling Event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greater Honesdale Partnership parking lot and community room at 32 Commercial St. in Honesdale.
The event is part of the partnership’s Safe, Clean & Green Initiative and is being held in partnership with HRC/Shred A Ble.
Organizers say only clean, dry cardboard will be accepted. Cardboard that has come into contact with food, wet cardboard, chipboard such as cereal and cracker boxes, and cardboard showing signs of insects or pests will not be accepted.
The event is free for participants to drop off cardboard.
A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27.
The Greater Honesdale Partnership encourages residents to save their cardboard boxes ahead of the event as part of an effort to keep Honesdale clean and green.
