A Harlem man faces felony drug charges after New York State Police said they discovered nearly five kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop on State Route 17 in Sullivan County.

Troopers from State Police Liberty said they observed a 2026 Toyota traveling westbound on Route 17 in the town of Rockland at about 10:06 a.m. on April 17 in violation of multiple state vehicle and traffic laws. The vehicle was stopped in the town of Colchester.

The driver and sole occupant, identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey J. Marshall of Harlem, was interviewed by troopers. During the investigation, police said a search of the vehicle uncovered four compressed blocks wrapped in plastic and tape containing approximately 4,913 grams of cocaine.

Marshall was arrested without incident and transported to State Police Liberty for processing, authorities said.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a class A-I felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and multiple traffic violations.

Marshall was arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to Town of Rockland Court today (April 21).
