Radio Catskill and WIOX Community Radio are thrilled to announce their new schedule bringing together programming from both services.
Radio Catskill will begin simulcasting its programming on WIOX Community Radio on October 26, marking an important step toward building a unified regional public radio service for the Catskills and Northeast Pennsylvania. Simulcasting means both stations will broadcast the same programming at the same time.
Beginning October 26, WIOX listeners will hear Radio Catskill’s schedule, including national favorites such as All Things Considered and Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!, along with Radio Catskill’s award-winning local election coverage.
On November 9, the stations will introduce a fully integrated schedule that incorporates WIOX listener favorites alongside Radio Catskill programming. Shows joining the lineup will include Pop Up, The Andy Cahill Show, Radio Truckstop, Something Old, Something Blues and All That Gumbo, along with additional WIOX programming.
The integrated schedule will add more than 18 hours of local programming, bringing together the distinctive voices, musical diversity, and community connections of both stations.
Radio Catskill General Manager Tim Bruno, noted that “bringing together the program schedules of two services required making some tough decisions. We would have loved to integrate all of the programming from both stations, but with input from the WIOX team and our Programming Committee, we included WIOX favorites along with our award-winning local and national news programming on Radio Catskill.”
The effort is part of Radio Catskill’s plan to build a stronger regional public radio service, combining local news and information with national programming, music and cultural shows while continuing to serve communities across the Catskills, Northeast Pennsylvania, and surrounding region.
The planned license acquisition of WIOX by Radio Catskill remains subject to FCC regulatory approval.
