The Lake Wallenpaupack Centennial Boat Parade scheduled for Saturday, July 25 has been canceled because organizers did not receive enough registrations to hold the event, The Chamber of the Northern Poconos announced.
The Chamber said the decision was made after careful consideration and that participation levels would not allow for the type of parade experience organizers hoped to create for the community.
Organizers thanked those who expressed interest, shared information about the event, and registered to participate, saying the community’s enthusiasm for celebrating Lake Wallenpaupack’s 100th anniversary was appreciated.
The Lake Wallenpaupack Centennial Celebration will continue as planned from July 24 through July 26. The weekend celebration will include other opportunities to commemorate the lake’s 100-year milestone.
Those who registered for the boat parade will be contacted directly regarding refunds.
