Radio Catskill Receives O’Connor Foundation Grant to Support WIOX Merger, Expands Hiring

LIBERTY, N.Y. — Radio Catskill has received a $5,000 matching grant from The A. Lindsay and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation to help fund two new part-time positions that will support the organization’s merger with WIOX and expand local journalism and community engagement across the Catskills.

The grant will provide first-year salary support for a Part-time Reporter and a Development Associate. The foundation supports projects that benefit Delaware County, where the new positions will play a key role in strengthening local news coverage and community connections following the integration of WIOX into Radio Catskill.

“As we bring together two trusted public radio stations, we’re investing in the people who will make this merger meaningful for listeners,” said Tim Bruno, General Manager of Radio Catskill. “We’re grateful to The A. Lindsay and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation for helping us expand local journalism, strengthen community engagement, and ensure that residents throughout Delaware County and the Catskills continue to have access to high-quality public media.”

The merger of WIOX and Radio Catskill will expand locally produced news, public affairs programming, and community service while preserving WIOX’s longstanding commitment to Delaware County.

Radio Catskill is currently accepting applications for the two part-time positions:

• Part-time Reporter— The position reports on local government, community issues, and regional initiatives throughout Delaware County and neighboring communities. Interested applicants can learn more about the position and apply HERE.
