Authorities in Orange County have arrested a 51-year-old man on charges of sexual abuse involving a child.
The New York State Police Child Abuse Unit announced Wednesday that Robert Worden, a resident of Port Jervis, was taken into custody for alleged sexual conduct with a child under the age of 11. The investigation began in June 2025, when the unit, in coordination with Orange County Child Protective Services, received allegations of inappropriate conduct.
Following a thorough investigation, Worden was formally charged with Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree, a Class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Worden was arraigned at the City of Middletown Court, Central Arraignment Part, and remanded to the Orange County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 cash, $100,000 secured bond, or $200,000 partially secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wallkill Court on January 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Worden, or anyone with information about his activities, to contact the New York State Police at (845) 344-5300. Authorities say all reports will be handled confidentially.
